Building Green? Start with Edson Truss!

Green is more than a catch phrase or marketing tool; it just makes good sense.    

Like many building component manufacturers, Edson Truss uses precise laser s and saws which drastically reduce waste content.  However, as our region has been beleaguered by the Pine Beetle, we have encountered much rotten and damaged wood.  Rather than throw this lumber away, Edson Truss invested in saws specifically designed for the precise cutting of small lengths in order to salvage those sections of wood still suitable for such applications as floor truss webs.  This saw has also proven highly effective in the recovery of ‘shorts’ (the lengths of wood remaining after a stick of lumber has been cut).

In early 2009, Edson Truss became distributor for Nudura Insulated Concrete Block and accessories.  We were impressed by Nudura ICF not just because of the quick and easy installation or revolutionary design, but also because:

  1. Nudura is manufactured from recycled/recyclable materials, and is itself, recyclable!
  2. Nudura-built structures offer up to 2x improved energy efficiency
  3. Nudura forms do not emit CFC or HCFC’s & are manufactured using processes which are non ozone-depleting.

Even our office takes measures on a daily basis to reduce waste!  Our high-resolution print scanner/copier saves blueprints in PDF form, which are in turn displayed on high-resolution LCD screens at each design station.  In addition, all of our faxes are received via computer and saved as required.  Nothing is printed until it becomes necessary!
